Rainy Day

They had called for rain on the news the night before so the sound of water droplets in the morning drumming against my window did not surprise me. I began to think about how my day to the beach is now going to turn out to be a boring day at home with nothing to do but watch old cartoons on channel twenty two. Exciting i sarcastically thought. I stubbled out of bed and walked towards the kitchen to say bye to my mother. As my mom was babbling in my ear and i poured myself a glass of juice and began to think that the tangy and flavorful juice and a more thrilling life then me. I decided to make a list of possible thing to do through out the day. At first i came up with things like homework, painting my nails and organizing my photo albums. As i pondered for things to do i began to drift off to sleep again. My body may have been quiet but my mind was filling with exuberant and bizarre ideas. yellow swirls and pink elephants darted across my mind. I was in a world of complete exhilaration. I was a different person here, more confident, strong and exciting and i loved it. As i walked along the lime green grass i met a talking unicorn,oh she was beautiful. Pink and blue with soft hair like satin, so majestic as she galloped. As I mounted her back and held on tight she soared through the air. I could see the colorful world beneath me. fuchsia trees, clear water lakes with vibrant colored fish. I couldn't believe my eyes. where was I? I thought, is this real? It was beautiful, i reached out to touched the pink fluffy clouds and the whimsical wind ran through my hair. I never wanted it to end. As my unicorn skimmed the ground to land everything began to get dark. The trees turned an ashy black color and my unicorn started to disappear. the fish began to die and before i knew it my world was torn apart. i started to run as my world was crashing down. " I want to go home, I want to go home" i yelled and right at that second i found myself on my living room couch again. Rubbing my eyes from a deep sleep and i was me again. sitting on my normal white couch, in my small town suburbs drinking my orange juice wishing i had something to do on a rainy day.

"Puce fairy book" a poem by Alice major and "forget Prince Charming" a short story by June Callwood both discuss the fact that know one or know two people can be perfect. In "puce fairy book" A girl uses fairytale refrences to prove to her man that no she is not " Rapunzel waiting in a tower with braids of hair like ropes" but that she is a girl who's hair "would never grow long enough" meaning that she is who she and if you cant love her like that then walk away. In "Forget Prince Charming" Callwood talks about how there is no such thing as the perfect man and that most "prince Charmings" are self centered twits. When looking for a mate you should be looking for the inside qualities of a person not there style of jean. Both of these pieces of texts talk about how no one is perfect and no love is perfect. There is no such thing as a true "happily ever after" because a healthy loving relationships should have fight should have anger because that means you care for each other and are willing to fight for each other.

Kevin Brooks

kevin Brooks born in 1959 in Exeter, devon is the Author of my novel "Candy." When he was finished school he moved out right away and moved to London to become a rockstar. This dream failed and he became an author instead. He describes his books as "stories about real people- thier thoughts, thier feelings, thier hearts and thier minds." He enjoyed writing "Candy" because it is a truthful situation that some people will have to go through. kevins reveiw on the books quotes " This story isn't very predictable, maybe a little at the beginning, but towards the end it gets harder and harder to follow which makes for a good story if you are a good reader." Brooks has also written such books as "kissing the rain", "bloodline" and "Lucas".

My top three countries to travel too are london, greece and italy. I will be going to all three of these countries next year and am very excited. I have always wanted to travel to london sense i was a little girl. This is because i love the culture, the chic style of the country and most of all the history. i love british history and am very excited to learn more. Greece is another country of my choice i have always wanted to go to this country but after a year of working in a greek restaurant and working with greek people my desire to go to this country has increased. i love the food and the people are so warm and loving. Italy is my dream final destination although Greece and London interest me a bit more Italy is still in the top three. I am excited to live in the wild fun and exciting culture of this country. to see Rome and Venice would be a dream. i am a total romantic and this country is exactly that.
